INFO:
This past Saturday (14 September), I had the pleasure of honouring an invitation to the Nursing Science career and motivation seminar at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU). I absolutely love what the university is doing for its final-year nursing students; this initiative is a brilliant way to help them navigate their careers post-community service. During the seminar, I had the honor of presenting a segment on entrepreneurship within the nursing fraternity. Sharing the journey that Leruo Nursing Services is on, my experiences and insights on how nurses can explore various entrepreneurial paths in healthcare. This not only validated my journey, but also sparked, if not validated the entrepreneurial spirit in some of the students. It was also wonderful to see first-year students present, as events like this are invaluable for their budding careers, providing them with insight into the opportunities and paths they can take within the nursing profession. A particularly touching moment was when the fourth-year students presented awards of recognition to their lecturers, showing appreciation for the profound impact these educators had on their undergraduate journey- this truly highlighted the close-knit and supportive environment fostered at SMU. I was truly humbled to be among pioneers, award-winning nurses, and nurse leaders from both the public and private health sectors. Engaging with such accomplished professionals made the event even more inspiring and impactful for all attendees.
