INFO:
In the wake of the Japan Rail Pass price going up by nearly 70% in October of last year, the regional offerings from JR are now a lot more attractive. Recently, I took it upon myself to show just how much you can do in a few short days with one of these passes. In my case, I snagged a JR East Pass (Tohoku Area) and embarked on a crazy, five-day-long adventure in northern Japan. Excluding the Shinkansen shots, here’s the itinerary if you want to follow in my footsteps… DAY ONE 📍 Zao Fox Village 📍 Yamadera (Risshaku-ji) 📍 Sazaedo & IImoriyama DAY TWO 📍 Ouchijuku 📍 Gyutan in Sendai 📍 Ginzan Onsen DAY THREE 📍 JR East’s Service Center 📍 Tsuru-no-yu in Nyuto Onsen 📍 Yakiniku in Morioka DAY FOUR 📍 Bank of Iwate Red Brick Building 📍 AZUMAYA Honten (Wanko Soba) 📍 Morioka Hachimangu 📍 Hachinohe’s Miroku Yokocho DAY FIVE 📍 Korekawa Jomon Museum 📍 Aomori Gyosai Center (Nokkedon) 📍 Nebuta Museum WA RASSE 📍 Akita Museum of Art 📍 Sannai Maruyama Site Since the Japan Rail Pass is now so much more expensive, you can save a lot of money by opting for the 30,000 yen JR East Pass (Tohoku Area). Especially with the cherry blossom season coming up, there’s never been a better time to see northern Japan!
