According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, influenza activity level is considered “high” statewide. Epidemiologist Stephanie Silvera of Montclair State University says that's because we're experiencing a later-than-usual flu season. According to the state Department of Health, more than 18,300 cases of the flu were diagnosed in NJ for the week ending April 23.
