Amid widespread protests against police and authorities' handling of the RG Kar rape and murder case, the by-elections for six Assembly seats in West Bengal is being held amid deployment of 108 companies of Central Armed Police Forces. The Trinamool Congress leadership has claimed that the impact of RG Kar protests will not have an impact on the rural and semi-urban voters.
