Delhi's air quality index (AQI) reached a critical level of 471 on Friday, falling into the 'severe plus' category. The deteriorating air quality has prompted action across the city, with AQI nearing 500 in several areas. Consequently, the Delhi government announced a two-day closure of all government and private primary schools on Thursday. The authorities took several other emergency measures, including a ban on polluting trucks, commercial four-wheelers, and all types of construction mandated to be initiated and enforced in the National Capital Region.
