The deteriorating air quality has prompted action across the city, with AQI nearing 500 in several areas. Consequently, the Delhi government announced a two-day closure of all government and private primary schools on Thursday. The authorities took several other emergency measures, including a ban on polluting trucks, commercial four-wheelers, and all types of construction mandated to be initiated and enforced in the National Capital Region.
