On the eve of Diwali, the temple town of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh set a new Guinness World Record when more than 22 lah (earthern lamps) were illuminated on 51 ghats during the Deepotsav programme. The programme began at 3 pm and was inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. As many as 25,000 volunteers lit 22,023,000 lakh lamps. A team from the Guinness Book of World Records were present at the Deepotsav event to count the diyas with a drone camera.
