A mayoral candidate, Alfredo Cabrera, was shot to death at his final campaign stop in the southern Mexican state of Guerrero. A video taken of the incident shows a person pointing a gun at the back of Cabrera’s head before firing multiple shots. The Attorney General’s Office announced it has launched an investigation and that the person who shot Cabrera was killed at the scene. The incident comes amid widespread violence in the country and the bloodiest election campaign in Mexico’s history.
