Tribal families in Koyapochaguda village in Mancherial have resorted to a unique protest to be allowed possession of forest land for podu cultivation. Nearly 100 people, including children are living under the open sky near their village, cooking out in the open and sleeping in the forest itself. They left their houses on June 1 following the arrest of 12 women for allegedly encroaching upon forest land. The women were released on bail on June 9.
