The air quality index (AQI) at 10am was 289, which deteriorated to 301, 'very poor', by 11am and further to 315 by 3pm. The average AQI on Thursday was 320 against 287 a day earlier. The pollution level went up with low wind speed and foggy conditions obstructing ventilation. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, AQI may stay 'very poor' on Friday, while slight improvement is expected from Saturday.
