Voting for the first phase of Gujarat elections on December 1 will cover 89 seats. Voting begins at 8 am and will continue till 5.30 pm. Total of 788 candidates are in the fray, although three parties are mainly in the fray as serious contenders - the BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party. Till the last Assembly elections, Gujarat mostly had straight contests between the BJP and the Congress, but this time AAP has made it a triangular contest. Second phase of polling will be held on December 5, while counting of votes will be held on December 8.
