During the last week of August, Gujarat experienced heavy rainfall, resulting in severe flooding and tragic loss of lives. Over 49 people lost their lives due to rain-related incidents, such as lightning strikes, wall collapses, and drowning. The floods required an extensive rescue operation involving the NDRF, Army, and other agencies, leading to the evacuation of over 37,000 people. State Relief Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey confirmed that the rains were caused by a deep depression that later developed into cyclonic storm Asna.
