Thomas Webb is a postgraduate trying to find his footing in New York City. After moving from his parents' apartment in the Upper West Side to the Lower East Side, he discovers that his father is having an affair with a younger woman, Johanna. In an effort to break up the relationship, Thomas confronts Johanna and ends up sleeping with her.
